  • What is an Oklahoma learner's permit?

    A learner’s permit allows teens aged 15½ or older to practice driving under supervision before being allowed to drive unsupervised.
  • How do I apply for a permit as a teen?

    To apply, you need to bring proof of identity, proof of social security, proof of enrollment in driver's ed (if under 16), and parental consent (if under 18). You'll also need to pass the written test and vision exam at the DPS.
  • Is driver's education required in Oklahoma?

    It depends on your age when you apply.
    • If you're under 16, you have to complete either Commercial or High School Driver Education (30 hours of classroom instruction) or Parent-Taught Driver Education.
    • If you're over 16, you do not have to complete driver's education to apply.
  • When can I get an Oklahoma intermediate license?

    To qualify for an intermediate license, you must be at least 16 and have held your permit for at least 6 months.
    You’ll also need to pass a driving skills test at this stage.
  • Are there driving restrictions on an intermediate license?

    You can drive alone between 5 am and 10 pm with an intermediate license. Additionally, you can only carry one non-family passenger. Exceptions can be made if you're driving for school, church, or work-related events.

    The Oklahoma DPS permit test consists of 50 questions, and you must answer at least 40 questions correctly to get a passing score (80%). The questions in our sample tests are nearly identical to those on the official exam.
