License suspension
BLicense revocation

ACome to a complete stop at least 50 feet from the emergency vehicle
Vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle

Texting while driving is:

ANot recommended, but legal
Illegal

In Maryland, it's illegal to use a hand-held phone while driving. This is because any cell phone use will severely distract you from driving and increase the risk of a crash. Drivers 18+ years are, however, permitted to use a hands-free device.

Are passengers of all ages required to wear a seatbelt?

Yes
BOnly passengers below 16 years old

The driver and all passengers must wear a seatbelt regardless of age.

You're driving behind a school bus and suddenly see a sign warning of a railroad crossing ahead. Why must you be prepared to stop?

School buses must stop before railroad crossings
BSchool buses usually get stuck on the railroad tracks
CSchool buses are prohibited from crossing the railroad tracks

School buses, trucks carrying hazardous loads, and commercial buses must stop before all railroad crossings. As you're driving behind a school bus, you must also be prepared to stop.

Which of the following is prohibited while driving?

AUsing your turn signals when changing lanes
Listening to music with earphones in both ears
CHaving a loud conversation with a passenger

While driving, you are not allowed to listen to music/radio using earphones or a headset covering both ears. This is because it will be much more difficult for you to scan your surroundings and cooperate with other road users.

You must use your headlights if visibility is less than:

B1500 feet
C2000 feet

You must turn on your headlights if you're unable to see at least 1000 feet ahead of your vehicle or weather conditions require the use of windshield wipers.

When approaching a stopped school bus with flashing red lights, drivers from either direction must stop at least _____ from the bus.

A5 feet

Which statement is true regarding large trucks?

BThey often appear to be driving faster than they actually are

Oncoming trucks often appear to be driving slower than they actually are - this ‘speed illusion’ can cause you to believe that you have enough space and time to pass when, in fact, you don’t.

It’s especially easy to misjudge the speed of large trucks near intersections, and how close they are.

You are parallel parked on the side of the road. When pulling out into traffic:

Turn the wheels away from the curb when parking your vehicle facing uphill - this way, the curb helps stop your vehicle in case the parking brake fails.

Remember to apply the parking brake and to leave your vehicle in the correct gear (1st gear if a manual vehicle, and ‘P’ if an automatic vehicle). Leaving your vehicle in the correct gear will help prevent your vehicle from rolling in case of brake failure.
