Why do bridges freeze quicker than the rest of the road?
Overpasses and bridges are not warmed up by the earth, like the rest of the road, and tends to remain comparatively colder than other parts of the road. Bridges and shaded areas tend to hide spots of ice as they freeze first on very cold and wet days.
