- You must have a permit to start driving under supervision. You can apply for one when you turn 15½ years old.
- You’ll need to pass a vision test and the written knowledge exam.
- You are required to complete a DMV-approved driver education course, either in a classroom or online.
- In addition to driver's ed, you must also complete 50 hours of supervised driving with a licensed adult who is at least 21 years old (this includes 10 hours of night driving).
- If you live in a remote area with no nearby or available driver education course, you must complete 100 hours of supervised driving instead.
- After successfully completing the requirements mentioned above and holding your permit for at least 6 months, you can schedule your road test to get a license. Upon passing your test, you’ll receive your license and can drive unsupervised (with certain restrictions).
