- If you are getting a Driver Awareness Permit (for individuals aged 15½ to 16), you must have completed either a 30-hour driver education course or a 4-hour driver awareness program.
- If you are getting a Minor Instruction Permit (for individuals aged 16 to 21), then no formal driver education is required, but it is highly recommended.
- You must complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a licensed instructor (required if under 16½)
- You must complete 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night (with a parent/guardian)
