Why we built Zutobi Instructor

We asked driving schools what they run on and kept hearing the same thing: three or four tools that do not talk to each other, and not one of them includes the curriculum, which is what students actually learn from.

So we build both halves in one platform, the admin and the teaching, because better-taught students make safer drivers.

How the curriculum is built and kept current

The course is written by driver education professionals and is not summarized from a state handbook: each state version is aligned to that state’s traffic laws, DMV handbook and test format, with the handbook used as the accuracy check rather than the source. Certified driving instructors review the content, and when a state changes a rule, the affected lessons and questions are updated.

More on how the course is built: our methodology and what schools teach from.

Scale and track record

Zutobi has worked in driver education since 2018 and builds the #1 drivers ed app in the U.S., which more than 15.1 million learners have used and which was named an EdTech Awards winner in 2023 for test prep. Zutobi Instructor is our B2B software for driving schools, currently with 100+ driving schools across 25 states and growing fast.
